Castle District Tour
Follow the track of medieval Budapest on a 3 hour private tour in the Castle District. Established in the 13th century this part of the city became the center for kings and the aristocracy. Learn more about its changes through the centuries and enjoy the atmosphere, less vehicles, cobblestones, old houses and amazing view.
First you’ll promenade to the pretty Castle Garden Bazaar which sits glamorously on the Danube bank, like Gentles and celebrities of the 19th century to arrive the Palace. This renewed building houses museums, galleries and a library now, so your guide will take you around it explaining its history, how it was transformed from a fortress into a Renaissance beauty, how it lost its importance and was rebuilt several times after revolutions and sieges.
You’ll walk along barroque palaces of aristocrat families and rich gentils, visit the beautiful Matthias Church with its unique mixed style of a Gothic Cathedral and an Art Noveau temple. You’ll not miss its neighbouring brother, the Fisherman’s Bastion to look over the Danube to the Pest side, the amazing view of the Parliament.
Peek into small gardens and courtyards, visit a medieval tiny synagoge to see what life could be 500 years ago in Buda. As you walk down the cosy streets your guide will point out statues, the old City Hall, palaces of aristocrats, the first theatre in town and many more interesting details.
Coffee and pastry at the end is a typical Hungarian habit and it gives you the opportunity to talk over your experiences, ask questions or just relax and enjoy the company.
